Senior Vice President, Unscripted Programming
As Senior Vice President, Unscripted Programming, BBC Studios, Travis Shakespeare oversees the creative development and production of multiple unscripted shows. He currently serves as an Executive Producer on the five-time Emmy® award-winning docu-reality series Life Below Zero and its two spin-off series, Port Protection and Life Below Zero: Next Generation, as well as the original series Breaking Bobby Bones, all for National Geographic Channel, and the U.S. version of the BBC’s global motoring brand, Top Gear America for MotorTrend. Shakespeare has also been the Executive Producer on the BBC Studios series Ladies of London for Bravo, Living with the Enemy for Lifetime, and Top Gear USA for History.
Prior to joining BBC Studios, Shakespeare worked across a variety of successful television titles including Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest Catch, Black Gold, The Wild Within, Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth, and Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie, as well as the feature film All That Remains. He also executive produced and directed the 2019 documentary Playing with FIRE, profiling millennials seeking to achieve financial independence in their 30’s & 40’s.
In 2019, Shakespeare was honored with an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Structured Reality Program for Life Below Zero. He has been recognized with three Daytime Emmy® nominations for his work on Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie and Gourmet’s Adventures with Ruth – the former of which has also received two James Beard Awards, two Silver Medals at the New York Festivals TV Broadcast Awards, and a 2007 Banff Award – and a James Beard Award nomination for his work on The Wild Within.
Shakespeare earned his Bachelor’s degree in English and French from Colorado University in Boulder. Originally from Denver, he currently resides in Los Angeles.
